Later living

Stay in the home you love, safely and comfortably.

We help older people, and the families who care about them, adapt their homes for the years ahead. Patient, respectful and always explained in plain English.

Home adaptations

The right changes, made the right way.

Most people would rather stay in the home they love. We make the changes that let them: from a well-placed rail to a downstairs bedroom and bathroom.

We are happy to work from an Occupational Therapist's recommendations, and can talk you through the grants and VAT reliefs that may apply.

It's rarely about one big project. More often it's a handful of well-judged changes: a rail by the back step, a second banister, a shower you can walk into. We'll help you decide what matters most.

Our promise

The same faces every day, and always a knock before we come in.

Working with older clients

Respect is part of the job.

Having builders in can be unsettling at any age. We work in a way that keeps you comfortable, informed and in control of your own home.

  • We go at your pace

Visits planned around you. Time to think things over, and nobody rushing you into a decision.

  • Plain English, always

Every option explained simply, in person and in writing, with nothing hidden in the small print.

  • Family kept in the loop

Happy to share updates with a son, daughter or carer, with your permission.

  • Safe, tidy, considerate

Clear walkways, dust controlled, and essential rooms kept usable wherever we possibly can.

For sons, daughters and carers

You can't always be there. We'll keep you in the loop with calls, messages and photos, so you know exactly how things are going.

Help with the cost

You may pay less than you think.

Adaptation work can qualify for VAT relief and council funding. We’ll explain what might apply to you, simply and without obligation.

  • VAT relief on adaptations

Some building work to adapt a home for a disabled person can be zero-rated for VAT, and certain mobility aids fitted for people aged 60 or over can be charged at the reduced 5% rate. We'll tell you if your work may qualify and help with the declaration.

  • Disabled Facilities Grants

Your local council may help fund adaptations such as level-access showers, ramps and stairlifts through a means-tested Disabled Facilities Grant. We're happy to provide quotes to support your application.

  • Working with your OT

If an Occupational Therapist has assessed your needs, we'll build to their recommendations and keep them informed as the work goes on.

VAT reliefs and grants depend on individual circumstances and the rules set by HMRC and your local council. We’ll point you in the right direction, but we can’t guarantee eligibility.

Good to know

Questions from families.

  • Yes. That's what the first visit is for. We'll walk round the house with you, listen to what's becoming difficult, and suggest the changes that would help most, starting with the simplest.

Free home visit

Let’s make home easier.

Whether you're asking for yourself or someone you care for, tell us a little about the home and what's becoming difficult. We'll arrange a free, no-obligation visit.
